Boundary Waters Canoe Adventure Part Two:  Last week we spoke with Kevin Wegner, we call him Mr. Outdoors, about his amazing canoe racing adventure.  His story is so exciting and there is so much to tell that we invited him back this week to tell us some more.   This past Labor Day weekend, Keven and his teammates completed a grueling 270 mile non-stop canoe Paddle & Portage.  The event is a test of skill and endurance.  It is called ‘The Krueger Waddell Challenge’.  It starts at International Falls, MN and ends at Grand Portage.   Kevin and his teammates trained for over a year for this race.  Paddlers from all over the country compete in this event.

Kevin is an avid outdoorsman and is a successful hunter and angler.   In his spare time he is a Manufacturer’s Rep for may great brands in the outdoor industry.  Who better for that job, eh?

A first time to the show for Jason Sable – Welcome Jason!!    Jason is a Wisconsin DNR Tax Law Forestry Specialist.  Jason is going to explain The  Managed Forest Law (aka: Managed Forest Cropland Program):  What it is, Why it is, And how it benefits all, including reducing property taxes for participants.

“The Managed Forest Law (MFL) program is a landowner incentive program that encourages sustainable forestry on private woodland.  In exchange for following sound forest management, the landowner pays reduced property taxes. It was enacted in 1985 and replaced the Woodland Tax Law and the Forest Crop Law.

MFL is the only forest tax law that is open to enrollment. Land enrolled in the MFL program must be managed according to a plan agreed to by the landowner.”
