A Minnesota Fishing Trip, The Big River Magazine, & 100 Year Celebration for the Mississippi River Refuge

Our first guest this week is Chuck Pohlman. He is a great friend of the show and has agreed to join us again!  Chuck is a top-notch fisherman and an outdoor writer .  He has been a professional fishing guide, a top tournament angler and owner of a sporting goods store.   

Chuck and  longtime friend Dan Sura ( with In-Fisherman)  recently returned from a fishing trip in Minnesota and we are going to talk with Chuck about their trip and how that fishing was.

Chuck Pohlman has been published is Fishing Facts Magazine, Hook & Shell Magazine, In-Fisherman Magazine and The Big Cheese Magazine.

Our second guest is Reggie McLeod.  Reggie is the founder and editor of Big River Magazine.  We are going to talk about this fantastic magazine, which is educational, informative, and  full of amazing photographs.  We are also going to chat about the plans for the 2024 Hundred Year Celebration of the Mississippi River Refuge.  Very interesting to hear all of the plans for this celebration.

An excerpt from the Postbulletin.com:   ‘The magazine began 25 years ago with a small, six-page offering without color. Today, it’s printed semi-monthly in color with the work being done in an eclectic office across from Winona’s City Hall. Big River covers about 400 miles of the river from the Twin Cities to the Quad Cities.  He believes it’s the only independent magazine in the world devoted to a river. Actually, he said he’s quite sure it deserves such an appellation because when he started out, he looked around for other magazines to steal ideas. “I couldn’t find anything similar,” McLeod said.’
