Fishing the Lower Wisconsin River AND What is Happening to Lake Mead in Nevada

Our first guest this week is Brad Simms.  Brad is a Stream & River Systems Biologist with the Wisconsin Dept. of Natural Resources (DNR).  He has been a fisheries biologist for 23 years and he spends countless hours on streams in Southern Wisconsin.  His territory also includes the entire Lower Wisconsin River, which runs 92.3 miles from the damn in Prairie du Sac to the Mississippi River at Wyalusing.  We will be discussing all of the great opportunities for fishing this river.  The Lower Wisconsin River has over 94 species of fish!

Our second Guest is Tom Frey (aka Tuna Tom).  Tom has lived in Las Vegas for almost 50 years and has fished Lake Mead every single one of those years.  We will talk with Tom about his fishing experiences there and how things have changed with the climate changes and the increased water usage.

From AccuWeather website:  “Water levels at Lake Mead dropped to historic lows this week with persistent drought exacerbated by climate change and increased water demands driving the reservoir closer to becoming a “dead pool.  Should the water levels fall below 895 feet, the reservoir will become a dead pool, meaning water levels will be too low to reach the lowest water outlet at Hoover Dam and flow downstream.”
