2018 – The First Wisconsin Elk Hunt / Wisconsin Deer & Turkey Expo

2018 marks the first managed elk hunt in Wisconsin history!
Elk, first reintroduced in Northern Wisconsin in May 1995, have thrived and the herd has grown!  Kevin Wallenfang, Wisconsin Dept. of Natural Resources deer & elk ecologist is going to talk with all of us about the news that broke this week about the first elk hunt this fall in Wisconsin!  Wow!  Listen in for when, how, how many and how much.

“This is an incredible conservation success story for Wisconsin,” said Department of Natural Resources Secretary Dan Meyer. “Thanks to the efforts of so many great organizations and individuals, the northern elk herd has continued to grow to the point where we can offer this very special and long-awaited hunting opportunity.”
