Safety, Electronics on the Ice / Wyoming’s Raffle in Exchange for Deer Tags
Hey! Jim Kusuda is joining us this week. Many of you may remember him from a few of our shows over the years. We are going to talk ice-fishing – to include both safety and electronics.
Jim Kusuda is known for his involvement with ice fishing education in Madison, Wisconsin. He helped develop ice fishing programs for the Yahara Fishing Club, Ice Team Trap Attacks, and the NAIFC (North American Ice Fishing Circuit). Jim emphasizes safety, strike detection and setting the hook to help people experience the thrill of ice fishing. Chasing perch and bluegills is his passion and he is well versed in effective tactics for targeting the desired species. He is always learning about fish behavior, refining techniques and gear to really enjoy time spent outdoors. Jim gives presentations for the true hard water enthusiast where he shares his ideas about ice fishing.
Our second guest is Zachary Key. He was on the show several months ago talking about his idea – “Let a Deer Walk Raffle”. He is going to let us all know how successful it has been and how effective they think the effort will help the deer, elk, and antelope population.
“Wyoming Game and Fish began their drawing for elk, deer, and antelope on June 15, 2023, where all hunters await the results to see if they got a tag in a specified area. Once a hunter has been notified of the tag they have received, they are to put their name and phone number on the Caracas Coupon and mail it. Key will then take the coupon and fill out a raffle ticket which will directly go into the raffle. The drawing for the raffle items was August 15, 2023.”
