Bowhunting the Rut AND Some Concern About Guided Fishing in Airboats

Tom Mitchell shared some photos with us – including a photo with his kids Max & Maddie.   As you can see, Tom is a successful bowhunter.   He is also a great fisherman, hence his nickname “Wacky Worm” Mitchell.  He has earned the nickname because he loves catching Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass on Wacky Worms.

We are going to chat with Tom about bowhunting the run, which is the peak time of year to harvest a mature Whitetail buck.

Our second guest is Dave Koonce.  Dave lives near the Mississippi River.  Dave is a fisherman and that includes ice-fishing.   On October 11, 2023 Dave participated in a meeting held by the  DNR Wisconsin Conservation Congress (WCC). Dave was a participating commentator regarding  letters submitted to WCC about airboat guided ice-fishing.   The Conservation Congress Committee received letters from private individuals with some concerns about airboat usage and safety on the Mississippi River.  Several individuals testified during the meeting and the WCC is taking this under consideration.
