TICK TALK – Ticks Are Here Big Time! Then Talks About Fishing, Hockey, & Helping Children With Cancer

Our first guest this week is Tony Granato.   We will talk about hockey, fishing, and raising funds for children with cancer and their families – through the American Family Children’s Hospital / UW Carbone Cancer Center.

Tony is a gifted hockey player.  He played with the UW Badgers.  He then turned pro and had a fantastic career playing and then coaching in the NHL. with the New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings with Wayne Gretzky, and The San Jose Sharks.  He then became coach of the UW Madison Hockey Badgers and was honored as Big Ten Coach of the Year in 2017 and 2021.

And….guess what….Tony also likes to fish.  He likes catching big Bass on  “Chatterbaits” and “Wacky Worms”.   And most importantly, Tony is a huge part of the Casting 4 Kids fundraising event which will be held on Saturday May 20, 2023.  This event raises money for the American Family Children’s Hospital of the UW Carbone Cancer Center.

AND THEN……

Next we welcome back Brian Stichter, a good friend and sponsor of Ultimate Outdoors Radio.  Brian is owner of  High Brass Sporting Dogs & Guide Service in Arena, Wisconsin.   We are going to talk about the prevalence of ticks this year in Wisconsin; they were out early and are almost everywhere.  Keep an eye on your pets, including your horses.

And we will be talking about getting your dogs in shape for the spring and summer.  Sometimes our pets, like some of us,  get a little too comfy indoors during the cold and snowy winters and there is a process to getting them back in shape.

A little about Brian from his website:   “…. I have trained many breeds of dogs over the years from rabbit beagles and tree dogs to terriers, spaniels, pointers and retrievers. I have been lucky enough to train with some fine trainers and hunters in the past and will continue to learn as much from my training and hunting partners as possible. I currently train retrieving breeds for upland and waterfowl hunting as well as HRC Hunt test and shed antler hunting.
