Dog Training, Sturgeon Spearing, and Wisconsin’s Wolf Plan

First up this week is Brian Stichter.  You may remember him from prior shows, he is a professional dog trainer and hunting and fishing guide through his business ‘High Brass Sporting Dogs and Guide Service‘.  Plus, Brian is an avid outdoorsman –  he began pheasant hunting in 1986.  Then in 1999 he became a professional at dog trainer, doing what he loves.   He has over 25 years of training some amazing Labrador Retrievers and other flushing and hunting dogs.  This week we will talk with him about his recent experience during the Sturgeon season.   Then, we are going to talk about  one of his favorite topics – dogs and dog training, of which he is the Master!

We are proud that Brian and High Brass Sporting Dogs is a long time sponsor of The Ultimate Outdoors Radio Show.

Second at bat this Saturday is George Meyer.  Many of you know George or know of him.  He is former Secretary of Wisconsin Dept of Natural Resources, former Executive Director of Wisconsin Wildlife Foundation and he was inducted in to the Wisconsin Conservation Hall of Fame in 2018.  George will speak with us about what Wisconsin planned to manage the wolf population.  “Following a federal court ruling on Feb. 10, 2022, gray wolves are listed as an endangered species in the lower 48 states (excluding the northern Rocky Mountains region). As such, wolves are federally protected. Harvest and lethal depredation control are prohibited.”  However, some believe the population is such that it is causing greater and greater  harm to livestock and pets, enough so, to remove the wolf as an endangered species.  See:  ‘WI DNR Wolves in Wisconsin.
