Custom Made Muskie Baits AND Mentored Hunts in Wisconsin

Our first guest this Saturday is Tom Harrison.  This is his first time on the show, so WELCOME, Sir!  Tom is from Portage, Wisconsin and he is an avid Muskie fisherman.  Tom is a custom lure manufacturer and owns his own Muskie Lure business.  His baits are effective, tough, and durable.  He was a fishing guide for many years on Wisconsin lakes and river systems.   One of his clients boated a 54 inch Muskie!!  

We are going to chat with Tom about his lures and how he came to make them,  and his favorite high performance fishing line – FINS Brand Braided Line, and why he uses only that.

Our second guest is Julie Bergholz.   Julie and her husband Tom have owned Tom’s Guns in Marshall, Wisconsin for 48 years.  Julie has been involved with the Wisconsin DNR Mentored Hunting Program for several years.  We will talk about this great program and changes that have occurred over the years.

FROM THE DNR WEBSITE:  “Since 2009, this one-on-one mentoring opportunity has given new hunters a chance to try hunting without first completing a Hunter Safety course.  It’s easier than ever to introduce someone new to hunting in Wisconsin. Anyone, no matter age,  can now obtain a mentored-only hunting license and hunt without first completing a hunter education course. They must be accompanied by a licensed hunter (mentor), hunt within arm’s reach of the mentor and follow other rules. Such mentored hunts remove barriers to hunting yet still allow people to safely experience hunting in a highly controlled manner. “
