We Can Help You Introduce Your Kids to Fishing AND The “Let A Deer Walk” Raffle in Wyoming
Both Waldog and The Capt. love to help kids to get outside. And even better if the kids show an interest in fishing! So Wally and Terry are going to give us all sorts of ideas on helping you to help your kids learn about fishing.: from basic equipment you may need for a first time day of fishing, to places to go for an afternoon of shore fishing, to the advantages of hiring a guide to take the family out for a fun day on the water. Both these guys have a lot of experience helping kids learn to fish.
The second segment is Terry’s interview with Zachary Key from Wyoming. Earlier this year, Zachary came up with an amazing way to help the wildlife devastated by the harsh winter and to help hunters feel good about helping. A very cool idea!
From The WYO4 News site:
” The state of Wyoming saw one of the harshest winters this past season. Due to the negative temperatures and vast snow storms, the wildlife population declined especially within the deer population. Therefore, Wyoming native and active hunter Zachary Key, came up with an idea with an overall goal of letting more deer live and reproduce this upcoming season.” “…Key mentioned to the Wyoming Game and Fish Department at the Commission Meeting in Casper, asking if the board would be doing any unique cuts or doing things differently within certain regions (with the large decline in wildlife). With that being said, Key proposed to the board seeing if they would be interested in doing a raffle to take the pressure off the deer. The commission seemed to be welcoming of the idea but felt it wasn’t appropriate for them to ask the public to buy a tag that will inevitably contribute to a raffle. Therefore, Key took the idea under his wing and watched it flourish across the state.”
