Meet A Well-known Outdoor Writer & Author AND Let’s Talk About Trolling Motors AND Electronics

Meet Dan Bomkamp (and his Golden Retriever Sally).  Dan is an outdoors enthusiast, writer and author of over 20 books.  Dan has fished competitively in the Masters Walleye Circuit, he has owned 2 bait shops and had an outdoors radio show for 35 years.

It will be fun to chat with him about his adventures and his books and his outdoor adventures!

Dan grew up along the Wisconsin River and spent most of his live poking around the river, sloughs, and hills of the area.  After receiving his degrees in Biology and Chemistry, he found his talent for writing…and his love of Golden Retrievers!

“My books were written for adults but I found that young people, some as young as 3rd grade, also love them.  Consequently I go to many schools to talk to students about reading and writing.  It is very rewarding to meet so many people who enjoy the books, from middle school to retirement homes.”

Next we are going to talk about trolling motors.  We will be talking with Tim Newman, owner of Brew City Trolling Motors, repairs, and electronics installation.

“I started Brew City Trolling Motor Service in 2011 as an Authorized Service Center for Minn Kota. After a few years, I started installing Minn Kota and Humminbird products too. I wanted to become an expert on the products I sell and service. In 2015, I started fishing the National Walleye Tour (NWT) as a Co-Angler to watch the best walleye anglers break down different bodies of water with their electronics. After three years of learning, I started fishing as a Professional on the NWT for the last 2 years. In December 2019, I became an Authorized Service Center and Installer for Garmin.”

In 2020, I was looking for a pole mount for Garmin Live Scope. I talked to a friend, Chris West, about my idea and we made our first version of the Brew City CT-360. As I shared this with others, we made some adjustments and decided to sell them. While fishing the NWT, I ran the CT-360 in every condition possible. This mount exceeded all of my expectations and I believe it is the best built pole mount on the market.
