The Status of Wis. DNR Conservation Wardens & Wisconsin State Parks

Paul Smith, Outdoors Editor for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

As previously reported by Paul Smith:  “A shift in duties for Wisconsin conservation wardens, exacerbated by a staffing shortage, has state residents concerned about slackened enforcement of fish and game laws and reduced water safety patrols….. The change is linked to a Department of Natural Resources decision to remove law enforcement credentials from park rangers and instead have wardens provide more coverage in state parks.
The move, in the works for more than a year, has been fully implemented this summer and has the understaffed warden force scrambling.
Paul will be joining us to talk about this situation and if the Wisconsin DNR will be making any changes.

This is a very interesting story to follow and Paul Smith has been doing his research, as always!
